Dentures play an important role in managing oral health after tooth loss.

Although most dentures are fairly easy to care for, accidents happen. At Meramec Family Dentistry, we offer both rebasing and relining services. Our dental repair services make sure your dentures (partial denture or final denture) are at their best.

Dentures should be as comfortable and effective as natural teeth. We believe your dentures should reflect the high quality of oral health care products, and we are here to serve.

What exactly is the difference between a denture rebase and repair?

Rebasing is recommended when the teeth of your dentures are still in good condition, but the base material has sustained damage. The rebasing process involves replacing the entire acrylic denture base (the portion resembling gum tissues). When a rebase is complete, dentures are newly stable without replacing the denture teeth.

The rebasing process may also be required if your denture is old or cracked. Rebasing is similar to relining, with a few important differences. A rebase replaces the pink, acrylic base of dentures. A relining replaces only the lining of the dentures.

At our dental office in Arnold, MO, we recommend repairs over replacements as often as possible. Patients may be given a rebasing recommendation for any of the following reasons:

  • Broken or damaged denture base
  • Weakened or aged denture base
  • Replacement of an immediate denture

A wide variety of circumstances can be responsible for damaged dentures. Regardless of the exact source of damage, repairs should be addressed immediately. When a denture is damaged, it impairs healthy eating and oral health

Denture repair is offered in our office, but differs from a rebase. Unlike a rebase, a denture repair restores only a fractured or damaged denture to its original condition.

At our office, we provide same-day denture repair. We understand how valuable full and partial dentures are, and strive to have all denture work completed quickly. When you visit our office for a denture repair, you can rest assured that your smile will be back to normal as quickly as possible.

Once you arrive at our office, our team will advise you about your denture repair or rebasing needs. Advising includes all recommended next steps for repair or rebasing, and prevention methods to prevent further breakage.
