DENTAL IMPLANTS IN ARNOLD, MO

Dental implants were created to offer a foundation for replacement teeth that more closely mimic natural teeth. People who have lost teeth are able to eat practically anything and can smile confidently, knowing that their teeth appear to be natural and their facial structure will remain intact.

Our dental implants in Arnold, MO are tiny titanium posts. These posts are placed into the jaw bone where teeth have been lost. Bone bonds with titanium and creates a strong foundation for artificial teeth

Dental implants can help preserve facial contours and prevent the bone degradation that occurs when teeth are lost.

Ultimately, dental implants have begun to change the way people live. With implants, people can rediscover the ability to eat, speak, laugh, and live comfortably.

EVALUATION FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS

If you feel that implant dentistry is the right way to receive dental services for your needs, there are several steps you must take. Our team will conduct a dental/radiographic exam and request a thorough health history.

During all consultations at our office, your specific needs and requests will be addressed by either our dentist, Dr. Mandefro, or an oral and maxillofacial surgeon referred out by our practice.

Your questions and concerns about the specialties of oral surgery are important to us. Our team will work closely with you to make sure your procedure is a success.

DENTAL IMPLANT PROCEDURE

Dental implants function as small metal anchors. They are essentially the “root” of artificial teeth. Dental implants are surgically embedded in the jaw. Small posts are then attached to the embedded implant and protrude through the gums. Posts act as stabilizers for replacement teeth.

For most patients, dental implant placement requires two surgical procedures, which require specific educational training to ensure safety.

The two steps involved in implant placement are as follows:

  1. Implants are placed within the jaw bone. For the next 3-6 months, implants bond with the jaw bone. Temporary dentures are used in the interim and a soft diet is essential. Restorative dentists will design the final bridgework or denture to improve function and the appearance of teeth.
  2. Implants are uncovered and posts are attached to the implants. The installing surgeon will uncover implants and attach a small healing collar to the area. At this point, Dr. Mandefro will be able to begin making your new teeth using an impression. Once teeth have been constructed, posts or attachments will connect to the installed implants and replacement teeth cover the posts or attachments.

The entire implant process typically takes between six and eight months. Most patients are able to maintain their oral health and do not experience significant disruption to daily life.
